Originating from Bendigo in Victoria I ran my own accounting practice there for many years, however, wanting to follow the sun and the warm weather I decided to move to Queensland in 1993.
From July 2000 until joining Astute Accounting in 2024 I was a partner in another local accounting firm here in Cairns.
Having been in the accounting industry for more than 44 years my extensive knowledge allows me to specialise in assisting clients with their taxation and business accounting requirements.
I am a fellow of CPA Australia, and a registered self-managed superannuation fund auditor enabling me to carry out audits for incorporated associations, body corporates and self-managed superannuation funds.
I commit to providing a personalised service tailored to each client’s specific needs.
When not at work you will find me on my bike as I’m a keen cyclist and have been racing now for over 50 years. To prove that age is just a number I celebrated my 60th birthday by riding from Perth to Sydney and have also completed the iconic Land’s End to John O’Groats ride in Great Britain – a distance of 1407 kilometres and stretches the length of the UK!
We recently had an appointment with Astute to help us sort out our mortgage needs. From the moment we stepped into the building we were made to feel welcome. From Shae on the front desk to Damian during our appointment. Damian went above and beyond to help us with our needs, explaining things simply and offering further support. I was very impressed with the quality of service and support. We have been using John since we bought our first house in 2008 and taken sound advice from him in all our finance dealing ever since; which has included, opening a business, building our second house and now purchasing an investment property. We trust the advice given to us and not understanding the finance world hugely rely on the knowledge given to us in making decisions.
